US charges man shot by Border Patrol agent in Portland
Luis Nino-Moncada faces federal charges after ramming a Border Patrol vehicle during a targeted stop linked to a prostitution ring, with no agents physically harmed, DOJ said.
- The U.S. Department of Justice charged Luis David Nino-Moncada with aggravated assault of a federal officer and depredation of federal property, with his initial court appearance set for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026.
- During a targeted vehicle stop Thursday, DHS said the driver 'weaponized' his vehicle by striking a Border Patrol car and maneuvering aggressively, prompting an agent to fire.
