Two hundred and fifty prisoners have been released in Belarus, US President Donald Trump's envoy, John Coale, announced after a meeting with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko. The Nasha Niva news portal reported the names of more than a dozen released political prisoners. The US has lifted some sanctions against Minsk.
The US decision concerns some of the sanctions imposed on Belarusian financial institutions and potash companies.
