Woman’s Body Found Floating in Ocean 2 Miles Off Florida Coast: Police
Police say the woman was found about two miles offshore and have not identified her as investigators seek tips from the public.
On Tuesday, Boca Raton Police divers recovered a woman's body from the Atlantic Ocean about two miles east of 2500 N. Ocean Blvd. A boater spotted the deceased just after 8 a.m. and called 911.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, U.S. Coast Guard, and Boca Raton Fire Rescue assisted in the multi-agency recovery operation. These agencies responded quickly to the scene following the boater's initial report.
Police described the woman as white, between 40 and 50 years old, with brown and gray hair, wearing a blue T-shirt. Her identity and cause of death remain unknown to authorities.
Anyone with information regarding the case should contact Detective Lima at 620-6246. Police continue to treat the recovery as an active investigation.
Area residents reported that police inquired about a missing older woman with dementia the day before the recovery. Authorities have not confirmed a connection between the two events, though the investigation remains ongoing.
