Firefighters are battling what was described as a large fire in downtown Washington in Daviess County.

Woman Killed in Friday Morning Fire in Downtown Washington

Washington Fire Chief Steve Walden says a woman died Friday morning in a fire at 9 Northeast Third Street in downtown Washington. He says a name is not being released at this time. No injuries were reported. The building housed apartments on the first and second floors. The woman’s body was in the first-floor apartment. Chief Walden says the building was heavily damaged.
