University of Oregon's Hayward Field Evacuated Following Bomb Threat
University of Oregon police said the sweep found nothing of concern after an evacuation that involved multiple regional agencies.
On Tuesday, the University of Oregon Police Department evacuated Hayward Field following a bomb threat, issuing an 'All Clear' later that afternoon after finding nothing of concern.
The university received a phoned-in threat shortly after 1 p.m., prompting an immediate evacuation of athletes and staff who were on-site preparing for upcoming competitions.
Oregon Police Department personnel and partner agencies from across the region investigated the site 'out of an abundance of caution,' searching while officials urged the public to avoid the area.
UOPD stated, 'The search found nothing of concern and normal activities can resume,' allowing the facility to reopen for preparations ahead of the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
The NCAA Track and Field Championships are scheduled to begin Wednesday at Hayward Field and run through Saturday, with the venue remaining one of the nation's premier track facilities.
