The University of Amsterdam has apologized for the forced dismissal of Jewish staff members and resistance fighters during World War II. Vinod Subrananiam, chair of the executive board, offered the apology on Wednesday at the unveiling of a monument in the garden of the Oudemanhuispoort in central Amsterdam.The monument bears the names of 254 UvA students and 28 staff members. All of them died in the war.
