India Would Be Completely Free From Naxalism Before Next Conference of DGPs, IGPs: Home Minister Amit Shah.
Naxal-affected districts have dropped from 126 in 2014 to 11 today due to fortified police stations and legal reforms, Amit Shah said at a police conference.
- On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said India would be completely free from Naxalism before the next all-India Directors General and Inspectors General of Police conference after addressing the inaugural session in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
- The Modi government said it strengthened the security grid and bolstered the National Investigation Agency, Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, and introduced three new criminal laws.
- Security forces are striking at extremism, radicalisation and narcotics by focusing on intelligence accuracy, clear objectives and synergy, while Shah called for a three hundred and sixty degree offensive against narcotics and organised crime.
- The number of Naxal-affected districts fell from 126 to just 11 today, the ministry said, and Shah said lasting solutions for Naxalism, the North East and Jammu and Kashmir will soon unify these regions with the rest of the country.
- Once the three new criminal laws are fully implemented, Shah said policing in India would become the most modern in the world, and the DGsP and IGsP conference shapes reforms by identifying problems and strategies.
