Italy could limit sales of branches in UniCredit's BPM agreement

The merger between UniCredit and Banco BPM, two heavyweights in the Italian banking sector, is progressing but not without conditions. The Italian government has given the preliminary approval to the operation, although it has put on the table a number of key demands: one of them, that UniCredit accelerate its exit from Russia “as soon as possible”.
