ASHANTI REGION, GHANA, AUG 6 – The crash occurred during a mission to halt illegal mining and killed eight people including two ministers, prompting three days of national mourning, President Mahama said.
- On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, a Ghana Air Force Z-9 helicopter crashed in Adansi Akrofuom District, killing several officials including Ministers Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, under unclear circumstances.
- Amid efforts to curb illegal mining, the flight carried officials to Obuasi for a community inspection project on national defence and environmental development.
