The high-security prison in Vendin-le-Vieil (Pas-de-Calais), where 88 drug traffickers have been incarcerated since July, was the scene of voluntary flooding by detainees last week. On Monday, a part of them began a hunger strike, to denounce the conditions imposed on their families.

A few days after voluntarily flooding the courtyards of the building, some started a hunger strike on Monday, September 1st. These drug traffickers, among the most dangerous in the metropolis, have been transferred to the establishment since the end of July. "Twenty-three" people ask for better conditions of detention. "Our families pay the high price", deplores a communiqué signed by the "super cartel of Vendin-le-Vieil" and published this Monday, September 1.
The episode comes after a first rebel movement of prisoners last week, during which several of them caused flooding on the courtyard.
Several incidents marked the last days of this high-security prison in Pas-de-Calais, dedicated to the most dangerous detainees in France, and in particular to drug traffickers.
