Meerut Administration Ensures Food Joints Along Kanwar Yatra Route Display Essential Information
UTTARAKHAND, INDIA, JUL 2 – Uttarakhand mandates eateries on Kanwar Yatra route to display food licenses and tests samples to ensure safety for an expected 7 crore pilgrims, with strict penalties for violations.
- The Uttarakhand authorities require all food establishments on the Kanwar Yatra path to prominently exhibit valid food licenses or registration certificates to maintain food safety standards.
- The Health Department has devised a rigorous strategy to ensure hygienic and uncontaminated food is available to millions of pilgrims participating in the Kanwar Yatra starting July 11, 2025, when devotees collect sacred water from the Ganges.
- Dedicated groups of food safety officials are actively conducting regular sampling of items such as milk, sweets, oils, spices, and drinks from eateries and pandals across the districts of Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Uttarkashi.
- Additional Commissioner Tajbar Singh Jaggi emphasized that the health of pilgrims is paramount and stated that any establishment found with substandard samples will be shut down without delay. Those found violating regulations may incur penalties up to Rs 2 lakh under the provisions of the Food Safety Act of 2006.
- These measures aim to protect pilgrims’ health by enforcing transparency, strict compliance, and no compromise on food quality along the pilgrimage route.
