UK to mass produce Ukrainian-designed interceptor drones

On Thursday at the Defence and Security Equipment International trade show in London, Defence Secretary John Healey MP will unveil Project OCTOPUS, a UK-produced interceptor drone targeting thousands monthly for Ukraine.
In recent weeks, rising Russian drone activity prompted Defence Secretary John Healey to travel to Kyiv last week and sign a joint intellectual property deal with Ukraine after Russian drones violated Polish airspace.
The interceptor, designed in Ukraine with UK support, is manufactured in Britain under Project OCTOPUS, costing less than 10% to produce and effectively countering Shahed one-way attack drones.
The UK government, through the Defence Industrial Strategy, invests �350m this year to increase drone supply to Ukraine from 10,000 in 2024 to 100,000 in 2025, supporting British jobs and security.
At the Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting, ministers confirmed the UK-led International Fund for Ukraine surpassed �2 billion from the UK and 11 other countries, building on the 100-Year Partnership.
