UK Launches Digital eVisas for Pakistani Students, Workers
UNITED KINGDOM, JUL 15 – The UK launched a digital visa system for Pakistani students and workers to simplify processes and enhance security, with millions already using eVisas on select routes, officials said.
- The United Kingdom launched digital eVisas for most Pakistani students and workers starting July 15, 2025, replacing physical visa stickers with online status records.
- This change follows the UK government's 2024 announcement to fully digitise immigration by introducing the UKVI account system for visa holders staying longer than six months.
- The eVisa rollout covers various visa categories including long and short-term students, Global Business Mobility, Skilled Workers, Global Talent, and Youth Mobility routes, while dependents and visitor visas still need physical stickers.
- British High Commissioner Jane Marriott stated this system allows applicants to keep their passports during processing, facilitates easier identity proof, and enables linking travel documents to UKVI accounts for smoother travel.
- The eVisa system aims to provide a more secure, efficient immigration process without affecting current visa conditions, and the UK plans to extend digital visas to all visa categories in the future.
