- Short-Term Holding Facility Rules require the government provide basic clothing to accommodate religious and cultural needs as far as is practicable, legally binding the Home Office to supply these packs.
- Records show an average of 162 hijabs issued monthly at facilities like Manston in Kent, amounting to roughly one for every 12 people landed, with estimates reaching 1,500 this year.
- Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp denounced the practice, calling it an "insult to hard-working British taxpayers," while The Conservative Party demanded an immediate halt to the state-funded distribution.
- Despite a 41 per cent drop in crossings to 11,884 in the first half of 2026, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is pressing a new Asylum Bill aimed at speeding up removals.
