UK foreign minister due to visit China and India to discuss global issues
The trip will center on the Strait of Hormuz, the Russia-Ukraine war and Ebola, with talks also aimed at trade and technology ties.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper will travel to China on Monday for talks, followed by a visit to India later in the week, the British announced on Sunday.
The trip aims to improve relations following an "ice age," as Prime Minister Keir Starmer's Labour government seeks to build on the "new chapter" in ties established earlier this year.
Cooper will meet Wang and Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng on Tuesday in Beijing, then travel to Shenzhen on Wednesday for science programmes.
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar will meet Cooper on Thursday in India to discuss the UK-India Vision 2035 initiative, though trade secretary Rajesh Agrawal noted implementation hurdles over steel curbs.
Engagements "with these two major powers are expected to be focused on tackling the most significant global challenges," including the Russia-Ukraine war, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Ebola outbreak.
