Musk Accused of 'Driving Unrest' on Social Media After Belfast Stabbing
Musk drew criticism after sharing protest-location posts as rioting spread and families were displaced, with authorities saying online rhetoric fueled the unrest.
A 30-year-old Sudanese man named Hadi Alodid was charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Belfast that sparked anti-immigrant riots, including arson and threats to immigrant families' safety across the city.
Elon Musk was criticized by UK and Northern Irish politicians for sharing far-right posts on X urging protests, which local leaders said fueled unrest and hatred in Belfast.
Northern Ireland and UK leaders condemned the violence and called on public figures to promote calm rather than fuel hatred or division.
Hadi Alodid was denied bail and remains in custody pending a court hearing in July; authorities found no terrorism link to the attack.
Musk, a long-time critic of the British government, posted on X on the eve of the unrest: "Only with constant and loud protests will any change come about!"
