Two people killed in house fire in Okayama, possibly an elderly couple in their 80s (Kyodo News)

At around 6:00 a.m. on the 13th, a neighbor found smoke coming from the home of unemployed Saburo Ota (83) in Minami Ward, Okayama City, and called 119. The two-story house was completely burned down, and two people were confirmed dead after being taken to the hospital. The Okayama Prefectural Police believe that the victims were Ota and his wife (80), and are working to identify them.
