An 82-year-old Palm City man died Wednesday after he was found unresponsive in gulf waters approximately 5 miles off Mile Marker 60. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Clarence Shawver was snorkeling when he was found at approximately 10:45 a.m., taken ashore, and then to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon where he was pronounced dead.
