Four arrested after police officer shot in foot in Nottingham
Four suspects are in custody as detectives investigate the shooting, and the injured officer remains in hospital in stable condition.
On Sunday, a police officer was shot in the foot in Nottingham city centre after approaching two suspects at a bus stop on Angel Row, leading to four arrests by Monday.
The incident occurred at 4.50am when the officer approached two suspects at the bus stop; suspects fled immediately, prompting Nottinghamshire Police to launch a manhunt to identify and locate those involved.
Officers arrested a 27-year-old woman in Radford on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and firearm possession; three others aged 24, 25, and 30 were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All four suspects remain in custody being questioned by detectives. Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas confirmed the police cordon in Angel Row has been lifted.
Nottingham East Labour MP Nadia Whittome wrote that she wished the officer "a full and speedy recovery," while the Police Federation of England and Wales called the incident "a stark reminder" of daily dangers.
