MWIHOKO, KIAMBU COUNTY, AUG 7 – The Cessna Citation 560, carrying two crew and two medics, crashed and caught fire, killing two people as emergency teams responded, officials said.
- A light aircraft operated by Phoenix Aviation under AMREF Flying Doctors service crashed into a residential building in Mwihoko, Kiambu County, killing two and injuring two on August 7, 2025.
- According to officials, the plane lost contact with air traffic controllers at around 12:17 pm after departing Wilson Airport en route to Hargeisa, Somalia, and investigations are ongoing.
- Firefighters from Ruiru Town arrived and extinguished the fire after the Cessna Citation 560 burst into flames around 2 pm in Mwihoko area, Kiambu County.
- The medical charity called on the public to exercise patience, with Stephen Gitau saying, 'At this time, we are cooperating fully with relevant aviation authorities and emergency response teams to establish the facts surrounding the situation.'
