Officials said the blast injured 11 people and killed a police dog as authorities blamed the ELN and warned of destabilization.
- On Saturday, a truck packed with explosives detonated next to a Colombian police station near the border with Venezuela, injuring at least 11 people six days before President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella's inauguration.
- President-Elect Abelardo will succeed Gustavo Petro on Aug 7, marking a political shift as the incoming administration plans to end unsuccessful peace negotiations with Guerrilla groups. Espriella has promised intensified operations against drug trafficking organizations.
- George Quintero, security secretary for the department of Norte and Santander where the attack occurred, told reporters eight police officers and three civilians were injured in the "atrocious, violent act." Authorities are offering a reward equivalent to more than $32,000 for information.
- Espriella's inauguration will involve around 11,000 soldiers and police officers carrying out operations on land, at sea and in the air. The ceremony was moved to Cali, a region plagued by clashes between drug trafficking gangs and Guerrilla groups.
- Outgoing President Gustavo Petro traveled to Havana to discuss the United States' "policy of strangulation" against Cuba, while the incoming administration plans to forge a military alliance with the United States and Israel to combat escalating violence.
