Třinec Iron and Steel Works is slowing down plans, the construction of the electric arc furnace will be delayed by at least two years

Třinecké železárny is postponing the completion of projects related to the decarbonization of the steelworks by at least two years. The reason is insufficient public support, the situation on the steel market, and uncertainty about the future direction of Europe in the rules related to the Green Deal.

The largest Czech steel producer is postponing a billion-euro investment in decarbonization, citing concerns about unclear protection of the European market and low public support.

The Třinecké železárny steelworks will complete the construction of an electric arc furnace, which is a key element for the change in steel production technology, no earlier than 2030 instead of the planned 2028.
