Why Tottenham Signed Senesi as Squad Number and Start Date Revealed
On Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur officially signed defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer, assigning him the No5 shirt previously worn by Jan Vertonghen.
Spurs moved for the defender after conceding 122 goals over the last two Premier League seasons, while Senesi made 128 appearances for the Cherries since joining from Feyenoord in 2022.
Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi stated, "Marcos' experience, quality on the ball, and competitive edge will strengthen us defensively," while sporting director Johan Lange added he brings "quality, intelligence and leadership."
Earlier on Wednesday, Wales captain Ben Davies signed a new 12-month deal extending his stay into a 13th season after appearing 363 times for Tottenham.
As Spurs look to improve after a near-disastrous brush with relegation, midfielder Yves Bissouma is set to leave when his contract expires on June 30, while Senesi arrives alongside left-back Andy Robertson.
English Premier League club Tottenham have made their second summer signing. After full-back Andy Robertson arrived from Liverpool, the Londoners have signed Argentine centre-back Marcos Senesi, the French news agency AFP reported.
