Top company bosses earning 45 times more than workers
On Tuesday, the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors released research showing US-based executives now hold half of the top 10 highest-paid spots on the Australian Stock Exchange for the first time in the study's history.
Life360 executive chairman Chris Hulls topped the list as Australia's highest-paid executive, collecting $47.7 million in FY2025 through base salary, bonuses, and share options.
Data from ACSI shows the average ASX100 CEO earned $6,005,219 in FY2025, which equates to about 55 times the average full-time worker's earnings.
ACSI executive manager of stewardship Ed John criticized a "culture of entitlement" regarding annual bonuses, noting that CEOs are more likely to lose their jobs than their bonuses.
While Australian CEOs earn 55 times the average wage, US-based executives are paid 281 times more than typical workers, reflecting a significant difference in corporate remuneration standards.
