Tommy Robinson Detained at Heathrow
Robinson said police seized his phone during the stop, while officials declined to say what prompted the detention.
On Saturday, police detained far-right activist Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, at Heathrow Airport under the Counter-Terrorism Border Security Act 2019, seizing his mobile devices.
Robinson has recently gained prominence amid racial tensions following the death of 18-year-old Henry Nowak in Southampton and incidents in Belfast, where he has been accused of fueling disorder.
Previously cleared of terror charges in 2024, Robinson now uses X to amplify unrest, with tech billionaire Elon Musk recently reposting his claim that "foreign businesses are being destroyed in Belfast."
A spokesperson for Robinson described the detention as an "attack on investigative journalism," suggesting authorities targeted his sources, while Robinson requested donations for legal defense.
The Counter-Terrorism Border Security Act 2019 empowers officers to stop individuals suspected of planning hostile acts, though London's Metropolitan Police declined to comment on the specific reasons for this stop.
