Tom Izzo Gave Dan Hurley Advice After Lakers Offered UConn Coach $70M, 6-Year Contract in 2024

UConn head coach Dan Hurley sought counsel from Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo on a $70 million, six-year Los Angeles Lakers offer in 2024 before their Sweet 16 matchup in Washington.

"I told him to seriously look at it," Izzo told The Associated Press on Monday, encouraging the Lakers move while admitting he would hate to lose a coach embodying college basketball's values.
Third-Seeded Michigan State faces second-seeded UConn in Washington on Friday night in the Sweet 16, with both programs competing for advancement in the NCAA Tournament.
