Today’s solar term: “Beginning of Summer”

Lixia is the sixth solar term in the 24 solar terms. It is considered to be the beginning of summer on May 5 or 6 every year when the sun reaches 45 degrees of the ecliptic longitude. Wu Cheng of the Yuan Dynasty wrote in the "Collection of Explanations of the 72 Solar Terms in the Lunar Calendar": "The fourth month is the festival, and the word li means spring. Summer means temporary, and everything is temporary at this time."

The 5th is the beginning of summer, one of the 24 divisions of the year. It is considered the beginning of summer on the calendar. On the 4th, a low pressure trough caused cloudy skies in the Okinawa region, making it a humid day. The highest temperature was 28.8 degrees on Shimoji Island in Miyakojima City, and 28.5 degrees on Yonaguni Island. In Naha, it was 26.7 degrees.
