Lixia is the sixth solar term in the 24 solar terms. It is considered to be the beginning of summer on May 5 or 6 every year when the sun reaches 45 degrees of the ecliptic longitude. Wu Cheng of the Yuan Dynasty wrote in the "Collection of Explanations of the 72 Solar Terms in the Lunar Calendar": "The fourth month is the festival, and the word li means spring. Summer means temporary, and everything is temporary at this time."
