27 Maoists Surrender Before Police in Ranchi
The Maoists, wanted in multiple cases, laid down arms as police said 22 were killed, 44 arrested and 29 surrendered in 2026.
On Thursday, 27 Maoists surrendered to police in Ranchi under Operation Navjeevan before Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra. The ultras, belonging to the banned CPI , laid down arms before senior officers of Jharkhand Police, Jharkhand Jaguar, and CRPF.
Security forces reported that 2026 operations resulted in 22 Maoists killed, 44 arrested, and 29 surrendered. These figures mark the State's intensified efforts to eliminate extremism across Jharkhand.
Urging remaining insurgents to abandon violence, CRPF IG Saket Singh stated, "We appeal to those who have not surrendered to renounce the path of violence and come to the mainstream."
DGP Mishra confirmed the surrendered Maoists will receive full rehabilitation support, adding that combined security efforts to end extremism will continue throughout the State.
Separately, police apprehended two members of the People's Liberation Front of India in Khunti district earlier this week during a raid in Jilinga forest on Saturday.
