TMC Leader Mahua Moitra Alleges BJP Workers Hurled Eggs at Her in Bengal's Nadia District
On Wednesday, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party workers threw eggs at her while she attended a restaurant meeting in her Krishnanagar constituency, posting video evidence on social media.
These incidents follow the Bharatiya Janata Party's victory in the May 4, 2026, West Bengal state assembly elections, which ended the Trinamool Congress's 15-year rule; since then, several party leaders have faced similar egg-throwing protests.
Moitra, who represents Krishnanagar in the Lok Sabha, alleged that police remained "watching on" during the protest, claiming these were "coordinated" attacks by party workers rather than spontaneous public outbursts.
Police and Central Reserve Police Force personnel arrived shortly after to disperse the protesters, while the Trinamool Congress alleged the state is "spiralling into unchecked violence" under the current administration.
Characterizing the attack as "disturbing," the party questioned whether it has become the "new normal" to target individuals, citing similar egg-throwing incidents that previously targeted Abhishek Banerjee and Udayan Guha.
TMC MP Mahua Moitra has blamed BJP supporters for throwing eggs and eggplant at the party office in Nadia. She says police were present during the incident but no concrete action was taken. This incident has further heated up the political atmosphere and raised many questions.
