TORONTO, CANADA, AUG 7 – TIFF marks a decade of Primetime with six world premieres and multiple international debuts, highlighting TV's creative influence, festival officials said.
- On Thursday, the Toronto International Film Festival unveiled its Primetime lineup, celebrating its 10th anniversary and opening with Hulu’s The Lowdown by Sterlin Harjo.
- Over the past decade, TIFF expanded its support for serialized storytelling and launched the Series Accelerator initiative in 2021 to champion emerging showrunners, reflecting its evolving focus.
- Festival organizers said six shows will debut as World Premieres in the Primetime section, including The Lowdown, Wayward, Black Rabbit, Origin: The Story of the Basketball Africa League, Gandhi, and The Savage.
- Festival organizers said HBO’s Portobello will debut as a North American premiere and director Marco Bellocchio will receive TIFF’s Luminaries distinction.
- The Lowdown will launch on FX on September 23, 2025, and Black Rabbit will debut on the streaming giant during later this year.
