I attended two events Saturday.I was at the Battleship South Dakota with about 250 others as we commemorated the 250th anniversary of the United States Navy and the 80th anniversary of the end of the war with Japan, Aug. 15, 1945. The event took place on the port side near the stern.A good ceremony. Lt. Gov. Tony Venhuizen was the emcee. Live military music. Navy white uniforms in abundance.
