Blankenberge police rescued three young people from the sea last night who had gotten into trouble near the Pier. It is unclear how long the young people had been in the water, but they were unable to reach land on their own. The police are once again urging people to swim only in supervised zones.
Three 19-year-olds got into trouble on Monday evening at the head of a breakwater in Blankenberge, West Flanders. They had dived into the sea in an unguarded zone and were unable to get out. Two girls ended up in the hospital suffering from hypothermia. “The police, together with bystanders, threw lifebuoys,” says Police Commissioner Jan Maertens. “They were lucky.”
