Three managers at Lucy Letby hospital arrested in manslaughter investigation
- On Monday 30th June 2025, Cheshire Police detained three senior leaders from the Countess of Chester Hospital as part of an investigation into allegations of serious misconduct resulting in death.
- The arrests followed a widening of the investigation in March 2025 to include gross negligence manslaughter alongside corporate manslaughter due to concerns about increased fatalities between 2012 and 2016.
- The investigation focuses on the hospital's senior leadership decision-making during the period when Lucy Letby committed murders and attempted murders of babies between June 2015 and June 2016.
- Cheshire Police indicated that the investigation is centered on examining the actions and choices of senior leaders to assess if any criminal offenses occurred in relation to how the rise in fatalities was handled.
- All three individuals were subsequently bailed pending further inquiries while the corporate and gross negligence manslaughter investigations continue with no set timescales, and Letby's convictions remain unaffected.
