Grant Brewer and his wife Maggie work at The Manchester Standard newspaper – he’s an investigative journalist and she’s a gossip columnist. They’re on a romantic break when their hotel room is stormed by police and Grant is arrested for murder. As Maggie looks on in shock, Grant is injured, and later dies in police custody.
