On the occasion of the July 4 celebrations, the Animal Care Services of Bernalillo County urged pet owners to keep their animals indoors during fireworks shows to prevent them from panicking and fleeing. Authorities pointed out that this holiday weekend records the largest number of stray dogs and other pets of the year, as the noise of pyrotechnics can cause panic, disorientation and even cause them to jump fences or escape from their homes.
