Since 1 July last, the European Union has applied a new rate to packages with a value of EUR 150 or less.
Since 1 July last, the EU charges at least €3 to packages of less than €150 that arrive in block to stop the avalanche of cheap imports that enter, in more than 90% of cases, from China through platforms such as Temu, Shein or AliExpress. Thus, the new EU customs data centre has started operating and these packages pay regular tariffs according to their content, as European governments did not want to wait two years to start charging for shipmen…
Based on the experiences of the first days, the procedure in accordance with the new EU customs rules has been tested well, according to the tax office. There were no disruptions in parcel traffic, and the affected service providers have switched to operating according to the new rules.
