The Bradley Packer, the first design of a ski area groomer in the world, was invented at Winter Park by Steve Bradley. It was deployed into full operation on the mountain in 1953. Early snowmakers would ski down in front of the device to smooth the snow on the trails. To travel to the top of runs, the packer would be hauled by T-bars which also served to groom the liftline.
