The appeals process for Italian Cardinal Angelo Becciu is beginning in the Vatican. The clergyman was sentenced in 2023 to five and a half years in prison for irregularities in the management of funds at the Holy See's Secretariat of State. His case gained notoriety, and the trial was dubbed the trial of the century. Along with the cardinal, six other convicted men appealed the verdict.
