The Taliban and Burkina Faso ambassadors pledge new trade and mining cooperation

Taliban-controlled media say the group's acting ambassador to Iran has met with his Burkina Faso counterpart in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

The ambassadors of Ouagadougou, Niamey and Kabul have met separately in recent weeks, a rapprochement all the more unexpected as Burkina Faso and Niger are facing a jihadist insurgency led by the Sahelian branch of Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda sees the Taliban regime as a strong partner.

The office of the Taliban governor in Balkh has announced that the group has sent 16 trucks of marble extracted from the Chesht mine in Herat as a gift to Uzbekistan.
