Latest 'Tiger King' twist finds 'Doc' Antle facing possible prison sentence for animal trafficking
MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA, JUL 8 – Antle laundered over $500,000 from a human smuggling scheme to finance the illegal trade of endangered animals at his Myrtle Beach Safari, federal prosecutors said.
- Bhagavan "Doc" Antle pleaded guilty to federal charges on Nov. 6, 2023, related to animal trafficking violations.
- Antle violated the Lacey Act by buying and selling endangered animals between 2018 and 2020.
- As part of his plea, Antle must surrender his property and allow the government to rehome his animals.
- He could face up to 20 years in prison for money laundering and wildlife trafficking charges, according to Assistant Attorney General Todd Kim.
