In an unusual move, President András Baka asked to speak in parliament before the agenda, explaining why he is proposing Zoltán Szathmáry as Chief Prosecutor to replace Bálint Gábor Nagy, who left office on August 25. The head of state also mentioned that the public perception of the prosecution service in Hungary is at an all-time low, and why he did not veto the process of electing new members of the Constitutional Court.
The National Assembly will hold its session on Monday at 1 p.m., opened by speeches by President András Baka and Prime Minister Péter Magyar before the agenda. The opposition faction leaders can respond to the Prime Minister's speech, which will last up to 90 minutes. This will mark the start of the new working order of the National Assembly, which will apply to the next three weeks.
The Constitutional Court, as the supreme body for the protection of the Fundamental Law and one of the most important institutional guarantees of the rule of law, should enjoy the broadest possible authority and public trust from both a social, professional and political perspective, stated President András Baka.
After the President of the Republic, Prime Minister Péter Magyar will also speak in the House of Representatives.
