Syria's Shara, MBS Discuss Regional Security
The visit follows an April trip as Riyadh expands investments in Syria’s infrastructure, aviation and telecommunications, Reuters said.
Syrian President Ahmad Sharaa arrived in Riyadh on Tuesday for an official visit to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed, according to the Syrian news agency SANA.
Since the fall of Bashar Assad, Saudi Arabia has emerged as a key regional partner for Damascus, increasing investments in infrastructure, aviation, and telecommunications.
Sharaa is accompanied by Foreign Minister Assaad Shaibani on this visit, which comes less than six months after his previous trip to Saudi Arabia in April.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to boost cooperation between the two countries, though no further details were made public regarding their talks.
Houthi rebels have increased attacks on Saudi airports, a backdrop to this visit following the leaders' late July phone call aimed at reducing regional tensions.
Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara' met in the Saudi capital, Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, economic cooperation and regional developments.
