The photos showed that in 2025 the glacier recorded a record decline of approximately 385 meters, the largest since 1997. Between 1997 and 2023, the Perito Moreno glacier has lost approximately 3 square kilometers of surface.
It was considered an exception to the glaciers of the rest of the world but a photograph taken last 30 June by the Sentinel-2 satellite, within the framework of the European Copernicus program, visually confirms the withdrawal compared to other images of 2016
