The King greets joggers in surprise appearance at cancer charity parkrun
King Charles III joined the Sandringham parkrun as a spectator for the second year to support Move Against Cancer's event ahead of World Cancer Day.
- On January 31, 2026, King Charles III paid an unannounced visit to Sandringham parkrun as a spectator, joining Sarah Byatt to cheer joggers at the first lap marker.
- The parkrun was organised in partnership with Move Against Cancer's 5K Your Way programme, which runs on the last Saturday morning of each month at more than 120 parkrun events across the UK and Ireland to support people affected by cancer.
- Participants ran a 5km route of two laps around the Sandringham Estate, Norfolk, with photographs showing the King at a marshal point where the monarch stood watching runners pass.
- The King, who has been receiving outpatient cancer treatment since early February 2024, linked screening to his experience, saying `Early diagnosis quite simply saves lives` and noted his treatment is being scaled back this year.
- This marks the second consecutive year the King has surprised Sandringham runners before World Cancer Day on February 4, following last year’s meeting at the visitor centre on the Sandringham estate.
