It is a much used phrase meaning precisely the antithesis of the words – legitimising underhand or deceitful actions either in a romantic or conflict situations. But is it now becoming a maxim for life itself? Have the boundaries of reasonable behaviour or a sense of fair play been eroded to the point that they simply don’t exist anymore?
