- On Thursday, investigative journalist Pablo Torre released an episode of "Pablo Torre Finds Out" detailing former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow's involvement with Life Surge, a faith-based organization accused of using "predatory tactics and high-pressure sales to upsell attendees."
- Founded in 2020, Life Surge hosts about 30 one-day events yearly charging around $30 for entry, but attendees are then pressured to purchase 'SurgeU' investment packages ranging from $10,000 to $40,000 for stock market and real estate training.
- To afford these packages, Life Surge connects attendees with third-party brokers offering credit cards at temporary 0% interest rates that later rise as high as 30%. Former customer Karen Neal, 61, called her experience a "$15,000 mistake."
- Life Surge spokesperson Richard Lorenzen said the company "does not condone using a person's religious faith, fear, or spiritual beliefs to pressure that individual into purchasing a product." Tebow declined multiple requests to comment on his involvement.
- The investigation has sparked public debate over celebrity accountability, with critics questioning Tebow and CBS NFL analyst Russell Wilson's involvement, while some supporters contend they may be unaware of the company's practices.
