Netflix ordered an eight-episode third season as the Tina Fey comedy continues its ensemble story of lifelong friends on vacation.
- Netflix renewed the comedy-drama The Four Seasons for an eight-episode third season on Monday, with Jinny Howe, the streamer's Head of Scripted Series for U.S. and Canada, announcing the news at the Banff World Media Festival.
- Created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, the series is inspired by the 1981 film written and directed by Alan Alda, following a group of friends who reunite for vacations each season.
- Season 2 scored 90% on Rotten Tomatoes compared to 78% for Season 1, while the series delivered 24.4 million views worldwide over its first two weeks, perking up to 5.7 million views during its second week.
- Returning for Season 3, the main cast includes Fey, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Marco Calvani, Erika Henningsen, and Colman Domingo; unlike last year when Steve Carell departed, Henningsen will serve as a series regular.
- "It's been a joy watching the chaotic, beautiful journey of these lifelong friends," Netflix VP of U.S. comedy series Tracey Pakosta said. She added, "Audiences have fallen in love with these characters and this legendary cast's electric chemistry.
