NATO ally Denmark producing hundreds of sea mines over looming Russia threat

The UK currently doesn't have a sea mine capability but Denmark is set to produce hundreds of the mines in the coming years as it ramps up its defences.

The Danish government announced on Sunday an “immediate” purchase of equipment to monitor critical undersea infrastructure, and a day earlier, the purchase of several hundred naval mines. US Vice President J.D. Vance recently accused the Danish government of neglecting defense investments in the strategically located Greenland.

Denmark is procuring a large number of sea mines to strengthen the defence of the inland Danish waters and contribute to NATO’s overall defence and deterrence.
