A massive power outage occurred on Friday, June 21, in Montenegro, Bosnia, Albania and most of the Croatian coast. The National Dispatching Center of Montenegro reported that there has not been such a large-scale power outage in the Balkans for the past 30 years.
Senior Montenegrin and Albanian officials said that the shutdown was caused by a sharp increase in electricity consumption.
Albanian Energy Minister Belinda Balluku stated that there was a breakdown on the connecting line between Albania and Greece.
