- On September 23, Melissa Rycroft was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Southlake, Texas, and a mug shot from the Tarrant County Jail booking was released.
- Police responded around 12 to a single-vehicle crash and found a black Cadillac Escalade that had struck a tree, while witnesses reported erratic driving and said Rycroft was the only one involved.
- After administering field sobriety tests, Southlake police officers reported bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, a slight odor and spilled drinks inside the SUV; she failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Test and was booked into Keller/Tarrant County jail.
- She was released after eight hours on a $1,000 bond with a promise to appear in court, and Bret Martin, Rycroft's attorney, stressed an arrest is no indication of guilt.
- On October 6 Rycroft wrote in an Instagram comment: `Life really sucks right now and I'm struggling, but I'm trying to march forward,` and her lawyer Bret Martin asked the public to withhold judgment while evidence is examined.
